Married To A Strong Woman

My wife is a 25 year veteran of leukemia and a bone marrow transplant, or, as we named that battle for her life, “MAYRVO’S MARVELOUS ANVENTURE.” She’ll carry the wounds from full-body radiation and chemo therapy as souvenirs for the rest of her life. And, yes, “therapy” is an ironic word for poisons designed to target cancer cells which, in practice, are more like a shotgun than precisely aimed bullets. The significant collateral damage to the rest of her body was the price for more years of life. WTF!

Well… there can be times in life when we are presented with a choice between bad and worse. Mayrvo, my dear and so brave wife, looked directly into the dark evil eyes of her cruel and deadly enemy and declared in her heart, “FUCK YOU cancer! I CHOOSE to keep on marching!” She will continue to carry, through the rest of her life, the residual wounds to her body along with some chronic pain as she marches forward celebrating, celebrating life. I, and our large community of loving family and friends, are grateful that she made that brave choice. But personally I’ll admit that for me, a flawed, ordinary man, that it’s not always easy living with a really strong woman.
